The Gaslight Anthem | Chicago, IL

The Gaslight Anthem brought their History Books Tour, alongside Joyce Manor & Pinkshift to The Salt Shed in Chicago, IL on August 29th.

Pinkshift kicked things off for the Chicago crowd, immediately demanding your attention as the band played through their eight-song set.

You could feel the excitement in the room as Joyce Manor took the stage. Their twenty-song setlist included all of the hits and then some, keeping the crowd moving the entire time with crowd surfers and mosh pits.

By the time that The Gaslight Anthem was ready to take the stage, the venue was packed and you could feel the excitement in the air. They kicked their set off with three back-to-back hits, “American Slang,” “‘45’,” and “Handwritten,” before going into a Pink Floyd cover. The setlist consisted of a decent mix of their entire discography and lots of banter inbetween the tracks, including jokes about Chicago pizza (which Brian notably dislikes) and thanking the crowd for picking seeing them over Pearl Jam at Wrigley Field (all the while joking that they would’ve all picked Pearl Jam over playing this show if they didn’t need the money). They closed the night out with a cover of “Smells Like Teen Spirit” by Nirvana, which included members of Joyce Manor & Pinkshift coning on stage with them.

The Gaslight Anthem always puts on a great show that leaves you excited to see them the next time they come through your city, and this show was no different.
