Jordi Interview
Jordi's journey from a small-town dreamer to a social media sensation is nothing short of extraordinary. Hailing from the picturesque shores of Myrtle Beach, this 19-year-old dynamo has always been a force to be reckoned with. From the early days of her childhood, she was crafting melodies in the solitude of her room, perfecting her moves in the dance studio, and setting the stage ablaze with her performances all across South Carolina. We sat down with Jordi to talk about her journey, her new music career and upcoming plans.
- You've had quite a journey from Myrtle Beach to gaining a massive following on social media. Can you tell us about the moment you realized you wanted to pursue a career in entertainment?
I’ve grown up my entire life with the same dream, I’ve always known what I’ve wanted to do. There was never really a plan B in my head. Ive continued to work hard and am very blessed that I’ve received so much love from everyone. I’m genuinely so grateful.
- TikTok played a significant role in your rise to fame. How did you initially get started on the platform, and what do you think sets your content apart from others?
I started tiktok in September of 2018 and started posting comedy videos that took off pretty quickly, making people in my life laugh has always been something that makes me happy so it was easy to incorporate that in my content
- Your transition from short-form comedy on TikTok to music has been impressive. Can you share the inspiration behind your decision to start making music and your experience with that transition?
Music was always my end goal, I just had to make a plan on how to get there. I figured if I was able to build a fan base of people who appreciated me for me, then once I was able to release music I’d have people who would listen and so far the reactions have been overwhelmingly positive, I’m so happy that people connect with the music as much as I do
- Your music style ranges from light-hearted pop melodies to emotionally driven ballads. How do you decide the tone and theme for your songs, and do you have a favorite type of song to create?
I typically lean towards writing songs that are about things I’ve been through, I love lyric driven songs! My goal is for people to really find a connection through the words and feel something through the music. I think when writing about situations I’ve been through it truly brings out vulnerable honesty, although sometimes it’s fun just to write a song thats relatable!
- Your debut single, "Hate You", and your recent release, "Just a Friend", have received positive responses. Can you give us a glimpse into the themes and stories behind these songs?
These two songs are super special in my eyes, I love when music feels personal to me but I know that other people can connect with their stories as well and I feel like that is something both me and the listener are able to give each other with these records
- We're excited to hear about your upcoming third single and EP. Can you give us any hints about what we can expect in terms of sound and content from your new music?
This project is something I’m super proud of and can’t wait to put out into the world, I think my sound is ever changing as I continue to write and grow as an artist and I’m excited to be able share this journey with everyone who wants to be apart of it!
- What advice do you have for aspiring artists who look up to your journey and want to pursue a career in entertainment, whether it's in music or social media?
Never think anything is impossible, if you want something bad enough, never stop having a passion for it. I went from filming covers in my room to watching my dreams come true. I know it’s scary to go for things that seem like they could never happen to you but don’t let fear keep you from chasing after something.
- Finally, what are your long-term goals and aspirations for your career in entertainment, both in terms of music and other creative endeavors?
Right now I’m really focused on putting out music that I love and hope other people do as well but definitely would love to get into acting and really anything creative that makes me happy!
