My Chemical Romance | Nashville, TN

Nashville was not ok this past Tuesday as My Chemical Romance made their first stop in the music city in over a decade. Fans of all eras crowded the streets and many camped out overnight to get the best spots in the pit. This is the band's full first reunion tour since they took their hiatus back in 2013 and after 3 years of postponed shows due to the pandemic, they were finally making their debut with supporting acts Turnstile and Dilly Dally.

Dilly Dally, out of Toronto Canada, was the first band to take the stage at Bridgestone Arena. Their high-energy performance immediately set the mood and captured the audience's attention. I highly recommend any fans of alternative rock to add them to their summer/fall playlists.

Next up was Turnstile out of Baltimore Maryland. This band has played Nashville quite consistently over the past 2 years after their 2021 release of GLOW ON due to their heavy following here in the music city. Their set was primarily tracks on their latest release and their 2018 release, Time and Space. This gave the audience a happy blend of high-energy songs like Mystery as well as slowing things down with tracks like Alien Love Call. They closed the night out with T.L.C.

Following the close of Turnstiles set a soft rumbling could be heard while the stage was prepped for MCR. As it grew louder it began to resemble the sounds of helicopter blades. The lights began to dim as the stage became primarily backlit with red light. The stage backdrop resembled destroyed buildings and the mood shifted to a much darker tone. The crowd began chanting MCR as the rumbling of helicopter blades grew louder. When the band took the stage they opened with The Foundations of Decay and the crowd sang along. Their Nashville set explored all eras of MCR, even going back to their early days with tracks like Our Lady of Sorrows and This Is The Best Day Ever. The band closed the night out with Helena before retaking the stage to give a 3 song encore.
