Silverstein & Amity Affliction | Baltimore, MD

Silverstein and The Amity Affliction co-headliner came to Rams Head Live in Baltimore, Maryland, on September 23rd with UnityTX and Holding Absence.

UnityTX started the night with a mix of rap and hardcore music that got the crowd going. They opened with "RUCKUS" and continued with one banger after another. UnityTX brought the energy that helped prepare everyone for the following bands. They are definitely a band you will need to check out.

From Wales, Holding Absence started with their first song, "Aching Longing," in which the bassist from UnityTX joined the song to do vocals. As soon as "Afterlife" started, the crowd joined in and sang the lyrics with Lucas and kept the energy with the band as they played their set.

This was the first time Silverstein had been to Rams Head since the pandemic. They were the last show Rams Head had before it happened. Silverstein opened the show with "Infinite," and immediately, the crowd started singing the songs. Silverstein always knows how to bring the energy and the crowd always knows how to reciprocate the same energy. "Once Die Alone" started, the vocalist of UnityTX, Jay Webster, joined Shane Told to do vocals together. After nine songs in, Silverstein did something different with their shows, brought out the wheel of songs, and played whichever song it landed on multiple times. The first song was "Your Sword Versus My Dagger," they spun the wheel again, accidentally landing on the same song, so they spun again and then landed on one of my favorite songs, "Massachusetts." The last song they ended up playing was "Broken Stars." They ended their set with The "Afterglow," changing the lyrics slightly to "Now I'm carving our names in the tabletop, Heartbreak in an Ottobar parking lot," which is the name of another Baltimore venue, one of my favorite things that Shane does when playing this song. Silverstein has been one of my favorite bands for many years, they never disappoint.

Closing out the night was The Amity Affliction. They started with Coffin. The crowd constantly crowd surfed after each song played. Between Joel Birch’s heavy vocals and Ahren Stringer’s soft singing, they are the perfect duo together. They had the perfect set of songs between old and new songs. It was great to hear them play a few of my favorite old songs they don't usually play. Joel always has so much emotion when he performs that I love capturing it whenever I get a chance to. There were a ton of mosh pits and circle pits that kept the energy going through the end of the night. There were moments the band would step back from the microphone so you hear the whole room sing the lyrics back to them.
