State Champs | Nashville, TN

State Champs began the last week of their Kings of the New Age tour in Nashville at Eastside Bowl with Hunny, Between You and Me, and Save Face.

Save Face dressed in their signature red jumpsuits and got the crowd to shake off the Sunday scaries with songs primarily from their most recent album, Another Kill for the Highlight Reel. Towards the end of the set, the band dedicated their song, “Glitter,” to State Champs’ bassist, Ryan, with affection as well as a call out to Tennessee lawmakers that are trying to strip rights away from the LGBTQ+ community. The short but sweet set closed out with “Another Kill for the Highlight Reel” and singer, Ty, hoping the crowd enjoyed their set. And if they hated it? He hoped they would never forget it.

Next up was Australian natives Between You and Me. The band played their greatest hits from Armageddon and Everything is Temporary. Each song up to their closer, “Dakota”, brought the energy of the room higher in anticipation for the next band.

Hunny continued the momentum by opening with “JFK”. They bounced between their albums and EPs and got the crowd worked up for the stars of the sold out show.

When State Champs took the stage and opened with “Just Sound”, the audience immediately began crowdsurfing. Though it was obvious the tour was meant to promote their newest album, Kings of the New Age, the band gave an equal amount of attention to their previous albums, ensuring none of them were forgotten in the setlist. Upon closing with “Secrets”, the energy in the room hit an all-time high. Fans left buzzing from the excitement of a show they won’t be forgetting any time soon.
