Tennis | Eugene, OR
Tennis made a stop in Eugene, OR on April 24th. The husband and wife duo, Alaina Moore and Patrick Riley, are currently on the road on their Pollen tour right after the release of their 6th studio album this February. Fans were lined up outside the venue and filled with excitement to hear their favorites off the album.
The night began with their opening band Loving. They started the night off right with their chill indie sound. The crowd was loving the band’s first performance in Eugene. They even played a few new unreleased songs like “Medicine.” They also played favorites like “Only She Knows,” which fans in the crowd adored. The band’s mellow sound mixed with the calming voice of their lead singer perfectly complemented Tennis and their sound.
Shortly after fans said goodbye to Loving, Tennis came on stage, and you could feel the energy shift in the crowd. Lead singer Alaina Moore was very interactive with the audience. Whether it was getting to know a fan’s college major and dedicating the next song to her or complimenting someone’s dance moves, Moore kept the audience entertained with not only her beautiful voice, but also her wit and charm. She danced around the stage as they played new and old songs alike.
Riley’s guitar skills complemented Moore with every single song they played. There were moments I was in absolute awe of how perfect their sounds blended together. They know how to highlight each other’s strength, and the crowd was loving it. The audience swayed and danced around, chanting for an encore after the band left the stage. Tennis returned with 3 encore songs and fans were ecstatic.
Overall, the night was filled with pure talent provided by both Loving and Tennis. Fans were vibing along to the indie pop sound. Between Moore’s vocals and Riley’s guitar skills, they are a perfect live duo together.
