Mixed genre tours are always something special, and the Turnstile tour with JPEGMAFIA & Snail Mail was no exception to that when they came through Aragon Ballroom in Chicago on Sunday.

Snail Mail kicked the night off for us with 45 minutes of solid indie rock which, despite a handful of technical difficulties through the set, was filled with jokes and laughs from Lindsey and the band.

JPEGMAFIA picked the energy up immediately before he was even on stage as the crowd started dancing and moving along to his walk on music while chanting “Peggy” until he came on stage. With a set of hits after hits, no one got a chance to catch their breath before dancing some more, including Peggy himself, until he sat on the edge of the stage for a quick cover of Carly Rae Jepson’s “Call Me Maybe” before picking things right back up again.

By the time that “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” by Whitney Houston came on signaling that Turnstile was about to take the stage, fans were eager and ready, squeezing in to be closer to the barricade when the band started. With a set mostly consisting of their latest release, Glow On, there were circle pits and crowd surfers starting the second the first note of “HOLIDAY” started.

With an incredible light show, turns of crowd interaction, one hell of a drum solo, and a night ending with confetti canons during “T.L.C. (Turnstile Love Connection)”, this entire night felt like witnessing something important and something that will be talked about for years to come.
