girl in red | Chicago, IL

girl in red brought her I’m Doing It Again Tour to a sold out Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, IL on April 27th.

The venue felt like a queer fashion show as fans filled the 5000 capacity room wearing various bright red outfits, neckties, elaborate eye makeup (that had to have taken all day to do), and wrapped in pride flags. Momma kicked the light off, and conversations throughout the room quickly ended as the band captured the crowd’s full attention throughout the entire 30 minute set.

girl in red took the stage and the room went wild. Everywhere you looked, there were fans dancing, waving pride flags, and singing along to every word. Marie connected with them in a way that felt like they were lifelong friends sharing a fun moment together, including when a fan gave her a tiara from the crowd, which she wore for the entirety of her set.

As the night went on, she kept that connection with the crowd alive, and took the chance to talk candidly about her mental health struggles and the effects they’ve had on not only her, but also her close friends and family. She quickly wrapped that up declaring that it was not the vibe for a Saturday night, and that she is doing much better now and is SO back before going into “it would feel like this” and “I’m Back” off her latest album I’M DOING IT AGAIN BABY!

As the night was getting close to ending, a fan toward the front of the room caught her attention and requested that she played “dead girl in the pool” off her 2019 EP chapter 2. Marie decided that even though they don’t play it anymore, it’s too good of a song not to play after being requested, and added it into the set before closing the night out with “You Need Me Now?” and “i wanna be your girlfriend.”

You could tell just by the looks on fans’ faces while leaving the venue that this was a night that nobody would be forgetting about anytime soon.

Hey, I’m Kaitlyn! I’m a full-time photographer and talent buyer here in Chicago! I started doing photography when I was 8 years old and have been a full-time photographer with a focus on live music, weddings & couples since 2017!

I started CHARM back in 2017 as a way for my friends to cover bigger shows and it’s just grown like a weed since then. After a brief covid-related hiatus, Erin joined me in bringing it back & I couldn’t be more excited to be back with such an incredible team.
