Hawthorne Heights | Austin, TX

On August 14th, 2024 Hawthorne Heights took over Stubb's Waller Creek Amphitheater in Austin, Texas for their 20 Years of Tears celebrating the 20th Anniversary of their Debut Album, The Silence In Black And White . On this tour they brought along the best that the Emo genre has to offer This Wild Life, Emery, Armor For Sleep, Anberlin, and Thursday.

Starting off the day is acoustic duo from Long Beach, CA, This Wild Life. Spreading their prescription strength emotional music with the masses also celebrating 10 years of their album Clouded. They're a great act that gets the crowd warmed up for the night to come.

Second to the stage is Post Hardcore legends Emery from Seattle, Washington. Coming off a 20 year tour of their own they play hits off their album The Weaks End they start off stong with hits from the album and some other fan favorites.

Next up is Armor For Sleep back at Stubbs coming up on 23 years as a band. Getting the crowd teared up with their nostalgic emo hits and a surprise song off their newest album The Rain Museum. Following Armor For Sleep we see Anberlin featuring guest vocalist Matty Mullins from Memphis May Fire bringing the heavier edge to 2000s Emo.

Thursday, formed in New Jersey 26 years ago, takes the stage next to a roaring crowd playing mostly hits off their 2001 album Full Collapse. The crowd ramps up speed moshing and crowd surfing throughout the set. Ending in a dedication to Texas’ own Riley Gale of the band Powertrip and ending their set with the whole crowd singing along to War All The Time.

To end our night Hawthorne Heights takes the stage to play their album The Silence In Black And White in full for the overheated but overjoyed Austin crowd. They end their set with some hits off their other albums and a new song they’ve written and dedicated to their fans who’ve they’ve watched grow up with the band,an unexpectedly emotional night touching on the people we’ve loved and lost, the feeling of loneliness and heartbreak, all the emotions that drive us to music. Music and all these bands that we’ve turned to for the 20+ years for comfort.
