Love You Later "From The Window Seat" Review

Love You Later’s EP From The Window Seat delivers a soundtrack for the summer. The project of Nashville-based singer-songwriter Lexi Aviles features seven songs that share a glimpse of the last couple years in her life. For context, I wrote this review while soaking up some late afternoon sun in the backyard. Coincidentally, this EP was the perfect soundtrack for an easy afternoon of sunbathing.

Starting out strong with some fun guitar, “Girl With Headphones” is a relatable hit with honest lyrics and a catchy beat. The song perfectly encapsulates the feeling of wanting to escape into the music that’s playing, shutting the world out and allowing the listener to escape from reality for a bit. Featuring a breezy melody, the lyrics are accompanied by the different emotions felt while losing one’s self in the view from the window seat.

Slowing down for a moment, “Not Done” tackles the struggle of facing the end of a relationship, while “Love You Later” delivers the lyrics with lilting vocals - the potential of singing along at the top of your lungs draws you back to the track. There is a lo-fi vibe to the instrumentals on the song that emphasizes lyrics such as, “I let you in my head and I can't forget now we have something to lose, and I'm not done loving you.” “Not Done” lends balance to the album, giving a tug on the heartstrings of anyone who has had a hard time moving on or finds themselves still pining.

The closing tracks “Keepintouch” and “Someday, Today Will Be Long Ago” round out the album with another helping of honest lyrics, airy vocals, and dancey percussion that make for an optimistic and easygoing return to reality. Overall From The Window Seat carries us into the summer with a freedom that comes from shutting the world out with good music.
