Muna | Nashville, TN
Pop punk icons, Meet Me @ the Altar set the mood for the evening at Marathon Music Works, in Nashville, promising bop after bop. Halfway through, they stripped it down and performed a few acoustic songs along with telling the story of how Edith came to be in the band. By the end of their set they left the crowd wanting more.
MUNA opened their set with “What I Want” on a foggy stage fit for rockstars. Mostly playing songs from their self-titled album that was released in June, MUNA let everyone know that they were there to give their fans a memorable performance, including taking someone’s BeReal for them on stage. Halfway through the set they brought out some country twang playing “the more toxic of their country songs,” “Taken” and “Kind of Girl.” The band’s final closing songs (pre-encore), “Anything but Me” and “I Know a Place,” would have been more than enough to satisfy fans and call it a show well-played but MUNA wanted to set the bar even higher and busted out a cover of “Mr. Brightside.” Their encore consisted of “Shooting Star” and “Silk Chiffon.”
MUNA and Meet Me @ the Altar are on tour through October 26th.
