Noah Kahan | Nashville, TN

Noah Kahan brought The Stick Season Tour to Nashville for two nights at Ascend Amphitheater. Having played at The Ryman earlier this year in February, this was a surprising and well-deserved upgrade for the artist who has seen an unbelievable boost in popularity and recognition in the last six months alone.

Samia, who also played in Nashville earlier this year at Brooklyn Bowl, opened up the show. Fans showed a level of excitement for her and the band that rivaled her headlining tour, which only further proves how her music resonates with people. Throughout the set, Samia voiced her appreciation and excitement for Noah to perform later in the evening. The entirely-too-short set ended with “Honey” off of the most recent album of the same name, and the crowd sang along during the simple but sweet chorus while Samia ran around the stage dancing.

As the crowd waited for Noah and the band to come on stage, those that were in the front row grabbed the signs (and even a traffic light costume) they had tucked away for safekeeping. “Northern Attitude” kicked off the set for night one. Though a majority of the set was focused on songs from Stick Season and the additional tracks from (We’ll All Be Here Forever), Noah played an old favorite, “False Confidence”, for the OGs that have been around for years. Somehow managing to play three of his most heartbreaking songs back-to-back-to-back, Noah took the time to talk about how he lived in Nashville for a few years and how sentimental and meaningful these two shows are for him. As the band went into “You’re Gonna Go Far”, he mentioned that Nashville was where he learned to be alone, which hit especially hard for those that moved here from another state. “Dial Drunk” was the final song as the band walked off for a moment before coming back out for a three song encore. The voicemails heard in the extended version of “The View Between Villages” played as they walked back on to play the beloved song. The cathartic night of crying, laughing, and singing from the heart concluded with “Stick Season” and “Homesick”.

The Stick Season Tour extends across the pond through November followed by the the We’ll All Be Here Forever Tour beginning in March of 2024.
