Oceano | Chicago, IL

Chicago’s own deathcore pioneers, Oceano celebrated 15 years of the bands first album Depths by playing it in full at the legendary Reggies. This tour is a short, intimate run with Within the Ruins, I Declare War and By the Thousands on select dates.

Starting off the night were local beatdown band Aight Bet and the room opened up right away. For the last song, one of the members' kids came out for a guest vocal spot. Wounds were up next, a tech-death band also based in Chicago, who played fast and tight to keep the circle pits going.

Supporting the midwestern leg of the tour, By the Thousands were up, playing a few songs off of their latest EP The Descent. The band opened with “Cursed” backlit by green lights to match the album cover. They closed out the set with “Castle Walls” and “Toxic Earth.”

Finally, the band we were all there for, Oceano took the stage by storm playing “Descent” into “Inhumane Affliction” and fan favorite “District of Misery.” The 45 minute set was brutal and to the point, and it was clear they lived up to their reputation.
