Senses Fail | Chicago, IL

Senses Fail stopped at Bottom Lounge on November 6th on their Hell Is In Your Head tour (named after their eighth studio album) accompanied by Like Moths To Flames and Can’t Swim.

The night started off with some alternative rock hits from Can’t Swim. The New Jersey based band played mostly older songs with the exception of their most recent release, “i heard they found you face down inside your living room.” The crowd seemed to be very engaged with the music and having a good time. Can’t Swim did a great job at warming the crowd up and getting people moving for the rest of the show.

The crowd was getting larger when the second act, Like Moths To Flames, was up. This act really set the tone for the night with their intense metalcore performance. The band played songs off their 2020 and 2021 albums No Eternity In Gold and Pure Like Poison. They closed out with their most popular song, 2015 release, “Bury Your Pain.” Fans were reaching for setlists, drumsticks, and guitar picks as soon as the Columbus band finished their set.

By the time Senses Fail was ready to start, the room was packed wall to wall. As the four piece took the stage, there were screams from all throughout the room. The band opened with their most recent album Hell Is In Your Head’s first track “The Burial of the Dead.” They continued their set with a variety of their post-hardcore/metalcore songs old and new. By the time they were two songs in, their fans were moshing and crowd surfing. When the night came to a close, the crowd cheered for an encore and Senses Fail came back to end the show with two more songs - “Can’t Be Saved” and “Bite to Break Skin.”

Allie Loven

My name is Allie Loven. I am a concert and portrait photographer based out of the Chicagoland area. I started shooting smaller local shows when I was 14 and never quit, with the exception of a two year break because of Covid. Even when shows weren’t happening I never put my camera down. I was always taking portraits with my friends and family. I’ve been working with CHARMMusic since 2017 and I don’t plan to stop anytime soon. My favorite genres of music are rap, hardcore/metalcore, and pop punk, but my listening is not limited to just those. Some of my favorite bands/artists are Movements, Knocked Loose, The 1975, EST Gee, and Juice Wrld. I know, it’s a wild variety. Besides photography, I work with children and will be continuing my schooling to eventually become an elementary age teacher. I am also vegan and adore animals of all kinds (cows are my favorite). I’m very lucky to have had the opportunities that CHARM has brought to me and I am excited for what’s to come. My instagram is @allielovenphotography and my twitter is @dem0ny0uth if you ever want to say hey or wanna create some art together <3
