State Champs | Chicago, IL

State Champs kicked off their Living Proof tour with a sold-out show alongside Our Last Night, The Dangerous Summer, and Grayscale at House Of Blues in Chicago, IL on March 1st, 2018.

It’s not often you see huge crowds for the opening band on tour, especially with shows that start at 6:30, that was not the case with Grayscale opening up the show. The crowd was energetic and screaming along from the second they started playing "Atlantic," through the very last note of "Fever Dream."

The Dangerous Summer was a bit of an energy change coming off of Grayscale’s set but did not disappoint one bit, especially ending their set with frontman, AJ Perdomo, going into the crowd for "Infinite."

By the time Our Last Night came on stage, the entire venue was quite literally shaking. The group had the crowd in the palm of his hand throughout the entire set getting them to do exactly what he wanted when he wanted.

There is a lot of talent for State Champs to match up with on this tour but, as expected, they did not disappoint. The group stepped on stage with the energy that we have all come to expect from them, with an incredible production to help back it as well. The setlist was a near-perfect balance of old and new tracks, including an acoustic break in the set where frontman, Derek DiScanio, played “If I’m Lucky."

Overall, it was a night full of great bands and a tour that I cannot recommend catching in your city enough.

Hey, I’m Kaitlyn! I’m a full-time photographer and talent buyer here in Chicago! I started doing photography when I was 8 years old and have been a full-time photographer with a focus on live music, weddings & couples since 2017!

I started CHARM back in 2017 as a way for my friends to cover bigger shows and it’s just grown like a weed since then. After a brief covid-related hiatus, Erin joined me in bringing it back & I couldn’t be more excited to be back with such an incredible team.
