Telly "EPISODE 1" Review

Episode 1, the latest album by NY-based band telly, invites listeners into a mesmerizing sonic journey, blending dreamy atmospheres with sparkling vocals and a delightful infusion of electronic elements. With clear influences from CHVRCHES, this album captures the essence of dream-pop while adding its own unique touch.

The opening track, "BLINK”, sets the tone with a nostalgic nod to early 2000s movie soundtrack vibes. The most-listened-to single takes you on a journey reminiscent of scenes from your favorite coming-of-age films. The infusion of violin adds a cool and unexpected layer, creating an eclectic mix of elements that keep the album engaging from start to finish.

One standout track, "Broken Heart Baby”, carries beauty that brings to mind the work of Suki Waterhouse. The combination of celestial vocals and a hint of melancholy creates an emotional depth that resonates with the listener.

What sets telly apart is their ability to make you feel like you're listening to a live performance. The production is quality, creating a sonic space that feels expansive yet intimate. It's evident that the artists dedicated time and effort to creating a polished and cohesive sound.

Though the overarching sound and lyrics do not align with my personal preferences, it's clear that telly possesses talent and a commitment to their craft. Music enthusiasts with a fondness for electro-dream-pop made modern may find this EP to be a worthwhile listen.
