The Early November | Chicago, IL
The Dark Horse Tour featuring The Early November came to Bottom Lounge in Chicago. This tour has a rotating support roster of Hit the Lights, Hellogoodbye, and Spitalfield.
Cliffdiver, who is on the full tour, opened up the night with “F.A.K.E” and “Lost in Ikea,” followed by a new song “Dayz Gone.” This performance had the room dancing right away. They bring a lot of energy to the stage with having two vocalists and a saxophone player. They closed out with “New Vegas Bomb” and “Gas City.”
Up next was Spitalfield (who was playing their final show on the tour), and they opened up with “Kill the Drama” which opened up the room. Part way through their set while they were talking to the crowd they mentioned that they are getting permanently back together after a few years of playing a few one-off shows. They closed out with “Five Days and Counting” and “I Loved the Way She Said L.A.”
The Early November took the stage, opening with brand new songs “What We Earn” and “We Hang On,” followed by “Decoration.” Halfway into the set, vocalist Ace Enders told the fans that the next song was one of his favorites and that he usually plays it solo, but not that night as they started to play “Ever So Sweet.” The crowd reacted to this song more than any other, as “WE’RE NOT SPECIAL / I’M NOT SPECIAL” filled the room with every fan screaming it back at them. With a setlist that spanned most of the band's discography, a majority of the songs were off the band's classic The Room’s Too Cold. They closed out the night with “Baby Blue” and “Fluxy.”
