Holy Wars "Cult Classic" Review

Holy Wars new EP, Cult Classic immediately transports the listener to a superhuman world that is uniquely and positively cartoonish and unapologetically hardcore. The album is a sonic rollercoaster, with a frenetic energy that seems to draw inspiration from the heyday of the early scene era.

The blend of hardcore elements with punchier, brighter bits gives a fun atmosphere - it’s like witnessing a brawl between frenzied comic book characters while fireworks explode in the background. The techno components that are seamlessly woven into the musical tapestry further enhance the overall experience and serve as the glue that holds together the disparate elements of the sound, giving the listener a cohesive and electrifying ride.

Each track manages to encapsulate the comic vibe it brings, all while maintaining its distinct identity. While some might argue that the songs all have almost too close to similar sounds, there are sprinkles of individualistic pieces to each track that keep things engaging.

Amidst this high-energy and fast-paced ride, "TENSION//RELEASE" emerges as a refreshing end to the album. It brings a different feel to the overall experience, almost like a moment of respite after a thrilling adventure. The tension that builds throughout the album is released in this final track, providing a sense of closure and satisfaction.

Cult Classic is a wild fusion of genres and themes, an adventure where intensity is a direct hit, and it's a must-listen for anyone looking for a musical journey that's both fun and eccentric.
