Foxing | Nashville, TN

Back in 2014, Foxing and The Hotelier went on a co-headlining tour around the U.S. to promote their albums The Albatross and Home, Like Noplace Is There. Now, they have reunited for the 10-year anniversary tour of these two landmark albums, and the sold-out show at The Basement East was a nostalgic night for all the fans that attended.

The bands brought Emperor X to support this tour, and what a great surprise it was! Chad Matheny walked onstage with his acoustic guitar and started singing far away from the microphone, leaving the entire crowd curious. The set started with emotional songs like "Hummingbird,” but quickly changed to a more electronic and funny style. When Matheny sang "Christmas Morning in My Girlfriend's Car," you could hear laughs from all around the venue. He captivated the audience and left the crowd wanting more.

The venue was already at capacity when Foxing got onstage and "Bloodhound" started playing. The fans who were anxiously waiting front row started singing with Conor Murphy right away, and the energy of the crowd could be felt from all corners of the venue. The Albatross was the band's first album and it conquered fans quickly. It was emotional to see people returning to celebrate and sing every single lyric with the band. Fans were dancing and moshing around while the band played the legendary album that changed their career. Murphy thanked the fans who are still here after 10 years and for the support through the decade. Once "Quietus" ended, the band played a few more songs from their latest albums, and this caused just as much excitement in the room as the entirety of their first album did. The crowd was euphoric and cheering the band, as Foxing left the stage and thanked the fans again.

The Hotelier closed out the night, playing a great set that mixed songs from the band's entire career. Hits like "Vacancy" and "Goodness Pt. 2" marked the first part of the set, and fans all around the venue screamed every single lyric. Shortly after, the band started playing Home, Like Noplace Is There from beginning to end. Fans were excited to hear every song, and the crowd was moving nonstop. Christian Holden made jokes about their ages and how long the band has been around, always thanking the fans for always being there. "Dendron" marked the end of the night and the crowd was cheering and clapping. The public asked for more and the bands came onstage for an impromptu jam session and The Hotelier played a cover to close their electrifying performance. This nostalgic night will be forever remembered by all the fans who got to see this reunion, and hopefully, we will see these bands reunite again in the next decade.

Hello! my name is Mariana but everyone knows me by Maris. I have been holding a camera since I was 9 years old and haven’t stopped ever since. I was born and raised in Brazil and moved to Nashville a decade ago. In 2020 I graduated from the University of Tennessee with a BFA in Photography and Media Art and have been working with musicians and bands since then! The adrenaline of photographing live concerts is one of my favorite feelings and I can’t ever get enough of it.
