Lovejoy | Austin, TX

On May 9th, 2023, fans eagerly awaited the arrival of UK-based Indie Pop band Lovejoy, as they made their much-anticipated trip overseas to the US for the first time, for their Across The Pond Tour, alongside Crywank and Boy Jr.

The night kicked off with Crywank, a British “anti-folk” band, who had the crowd singing along to their relatable, yet self-deprecating bangers, such as “Now I'm Sad (Boo Hoo)” and “I am Shit”. Next up, Boy Jr. took the stage, delighting the audience with their eclectic pop sound, pulling influences from many genres. The crowd was kept entertained during the break, as they chanted, passed things they made for the band around, and made a towering stack of used cups to recycle at the end of the show.

Finally, it was time for Lovejoy to take the stage, and the crowd erupted in excitement. Fronted by Minecraft YouTube celebrity Wilbur Soot, the band celebrated the two-year anniversary of their debut album, Are You Alright? by treating the crowd to the entire EP, including their smash hits, “Sex Sells” and “One Day” as well as a selection of songs from their EP Pebble Brain and upcoming album Wake Up & It’s Over. Throughout the set, the crowd's energy never waned, screaming and singing along to every song at the top of their lungs, making it one of the loudest crowds ever. Lovejoy was a unique blend of high-energy indie rock and nostalgic pop, cementing them as a must-see band for fans of the genre.
