Pain Of Truth & Dying Wish | Philadelphia, PA
The Survival Through Blood co-headline tour for Dying Wish and Pain of Truth went to the famous First Unitarian Church in Philadelphia on October 29th. Outta Pocket and Balmora were brought on the tour as support.
Balmora was up first. As soon as the band started their set, the room packed out. The crowd immediately started moshing. They played fan favorites “Your Unyeilding Light” and “Under the Weight of a Blackened Sky.” The energy from the crowd set the tone for the rest of the night.
Up next was the Bay Area’s Outta Pocket. Before the band started, the crowd ran to the stage, ready for mic grabs. The band played the first note, and the crowd began jumping onto the stage. The vocalist, a few times during their set, handed the mic to the crowd for them to scream the lyrics. They played songs like “Purest Pain,”” Wrong Hand,” and “Despair.”
As soon as Dying Wish took the stage, you could see the crowd make room and bodies moving side to side ready to go into a frenzy. They kicked off their set with a force of energy and the crowd began endlessly stage diving during “Symptoms of Survival.” You could see vocalist Emma Boster with the biggest grin on her face. There were bodies simultaneously flying in every direction during every moment of their set. They continued their set with “Watch Your Promise Die” and “Prey for Me.” During a part of “Enemies in Red,” Gabe Becerra came out to join in vocals with Emma. The song “Torn From Your Silhouette” showcased Emma's clean vocals beautifully. They ended their set with “Innate Thirst,” which the crowd still moved to until the very end of the song.
Last but not least, Pain of Truth took the stage. They opened their set with “Blood on Your Hands,” which kicked the energy off for the rest of the night. The vocalist Michael Smith has a way of getting the crowd to move by continuously moving and getting close to the crowd. He demanded right off asking the room to move forward. They continued their set playing “This Falls on You” and “Snake in Disguise.” As the bodies were flying off the stage, the pit was straight chaos. As the band began to play their song “Pain of Truth,” you could see the entire crowd fight for the mic, and the energy intensified until the end of their set.
