Echosmith | Chicago, IL

Echosmith stopped at Bottom Lounge on October 28th about halfway through their fall tour with Lostboycrow and Band of Silver.

Band of Silver kicked the night off with a variety of alternative/indie songs from their vast collection of singles, EPs, and albums. Some songs they played such as “Something Stronger” were genre defying, having early pop and rock influences.

The crowd was starting to fill in more when the second act, Lostboycrow, took the stage. The four-piece really brought the energy up in the room. They had a handful of fans yelling “I love you” or “You’re amazing” and the band reciprocated the same. Lostboycrow had double the set time as the first opener and took advantage by playing almost their entire EP Strangers in a Place We Used to Dream and a handful of songs off albums Santa Fe and Valleyheart. The band finished off their set with a crowd pleaser, their most popular song, “Strawberry Sunscreen.”

Lastly, by the time Echosmith was going to take the stage the room was packed to the brim. One by one, each member approached the stage. The three siblings got cheers from all throughout the venue when they opened up with their latest release “Gelato.” The band played a variety of their pop hits old and new. Something different about this band is that they were intentional with their fans and wanted to truly connect during these shows. One way they did that was by choosing smaller venues for this tour and offering VIP. Their tour manager even encouraged photographers to stay in the photo pit for longer if they wanted. More significantly, Sydney talked to individual members in the crowd and even brought someone up to do a dedication video to their family member - almost the entire room was in tears. Sydney encouraged having everyone take deep breaths and be grateful for something. She kept in tune with the crowd the entire night. They closed with their most popular song, “Cool Kids”.

Allie Loven

My name is Allie Loven. I am a concert and portrait photographer based out of the Chicagoland area. I started shooting smaller local shows when I was 14 and never quit, with the exception of a two year break because of Covid. Even when shows weren’t happening I never put my camera down. I was always taking portraits with my friends and family. I’ve been working with CHARMMusic since 2017 and I don’t plan to stop anytime soon. My favorite genres of music are rap, hardcore/metalcore, and pop punk, but my listening is not limited to just those. Some of my favorite bands/artists are Movements, Knocked Loose, The 1975, EST Gee, and Juice Wrld. I know, it’s a wild variety. Besides photography, I work with children and will be continuing my schooling to eventually become an elementary age teacher. I am also vegan and adore animals of all kinds (cows are my favorite). I’m very lucky to have had the opportunities that CHARM has brought to me and I am excited for what’s to come. My instagram is @allielovenphotography and my twitter is @dem0ny0uth if you ever want to say hey or wanna create some art together <3
